Deceptivity

I went to see Amy Goodman talk on "Un-embedding the Media". Towards the end, she made this statement :

"Oil is the source of most of the world's problems"

Unfortunately, because of the way the world works, we end up treating the symptons instead of the root cause. No one understands the fundamental problems due to cowardice at every level of the mass media. I inferred overcoming cowardice as a necessary (if not sufficient) character trait, largely because Goodman possesses courage -- an obvious quality that trumps hesitation and reticent behavior every time, and the only thing that appears to differentiate between the practicing journalists out there.

I thought she laid out the mass media's lackluster and perhaps borderline criminal performance best by recounting our entry into the nuclear age: Journalist wins Pulitzer Prize by deception
