Polluting our way to oil independence?

Pick your poison
WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration is considering removing environmental requirements for a multitude of gasoline blends as a way to increase supplies of gasoline and fight soaring prices, Commerce Secretary Donald Evans said in an interview.

We know that the ethanol additive is heavily subsidized and probably has a negative net energy balance but the other additives have had a significant positive impact on air quality, such as unleaded1 gas.



1Lead is also polluting the roadsides of america. Lead weights used for balancing car wheels eventually fall off, get crushed, turn to dust, and cause unknown environmental effects.
